Past of Scotland Past of Scotland is the history of a nation built from the early stages of middle ages and composed by people living in a tough country, always fighting for freedom. So is Scotland's past marked with wars, civilian wars but moreover wars against the ones who tried to achieve power on that land (the vikings and mainly the english). Past of Scotland is often symbolised by the two main scottish Heroes, William Wallace and Robert Bruce who defeated the English a gave pride to the scottish people. The history of Scotland can also be mixed with the one of the Stuart familly who ruled the country from the 14th century to the 17th century and who gave Scotland great historical characters, such as Mary Stuart or Bonnie Prince Charly. Since the peace was made with the English, Scotland gained prosperity with a strong industrial developpement in the 19th century until the beginning of world war 2. The last part of the 20th century was made of a strong economical decline for Scotland, because Scotland was too dependant on heavy industry. Unemployement rate rised to its higher numbers.
